SPRING IS INSPIRING...Living in the country is great for enjoying the day by relaxing in the cool spring air on the porch just waiting for that thunderstorm to roll in on any given day while watching the flowers & trees sway in the breeze! Spring is almost over...the kids are about to be on summer vacation, and I'm looking forward to spending some time with my family just hanging out being ourselves. With the fast paced lifestyles we all live in this modern world, it's hard to just "Be" sometimes; not worrying about getting up & doing anything or going anywhere. We love hanging out in our pj's all day playing games inside or wearing play clothes outside like flip-flops, shorts & a t-shirt all because you don't have to be on a schedule or look professional. Although this won't happen everyday throughout the summer, it happens more often during the summer break from school than any other time! SPRING Decor to inspire...Decorating in the garden...These mums are from a cutting that I got from a friend last fall & they are growing beautifully. When fall gets here, they should fill in nicely! To finish up the garden decor, I've made some pottery to add to the planters on the front porch. I also incorporated some of the crystals & stone frogs that I've collected over the years to add some whimsy to the plants! The glow-in-the-dark insects that my kids outgrew have been put to good use & radiate a soft glow at night in the planters. I put the mini ceramic toad house among the mums in this planter along with a piece of natural driftwood & plastic mushrooms to create a natural looking decor. Mix items of different heights & textures to get a more interesting decor in your planters, such as the shiny ceramic piece against the rough wood & dirt. Don't just plant your plants/flowers in the center & watch them fill in, plant them to the side & play around with objects from around the house in the negative space remaining. SPRING INto ORGANIZING...Organizing the closet starts with going through the clothes. First comes the part where you have to try on the clothes & make some choices: *Items that fit: -Does it complete an outfit? -Does it need a piece? -Does it need mending? -Is it outdated? *Items that don't fit: -Donate to a Club or Organization -Give to Family or Friend -Trash Space planning is a good place to strategize next. How do you want the closet to function? Ok, if we're being honest, this probably will have some important restraints depending on the size of the closet & how many people will be sharing the closet. Usually, we think in terms of top & bottom when hanging garments...So, tops like blouses, sweaters, t-shirts, cami's, etc. will be hung on the top rack & bottoms like jeans, pants, skirts, etc. go on the bottom rack. Some closets are small with no space to have a dresser; space saving hangers are a great way to separate & organize garments while saving space. ART IN SPRING...Some of my favorite art projects are recycling or upcycling items like planters or plant stands. You can turn anything into the most awesome piece of art with a little imagination & paint! I even use the kid's old toys like plastic dragons, dinosaurs, insects, bugs, etc. SPRING HAS SPRUNG IN THE KITCHEN...Pickled Deviled EggsDeviled Eggs are a favorite to take to a picnic, party or celebration this spring! Just remember that it contains dairy, so keep those eggs cold!!! I make my deviled eggs with pickled eggs for a couple of reasons: Color, Taste, & Texture. Let's take color first...I pickle my eggs in leftover pickle juice, which gives the eggs a bright yellow-greenish hue. Depending on the amount of time that the eggs have been pickling, will determine how deep the color ring will go (sort of like a tree). The taste that's added is, of course, pickles...This allows you to eliminate the step of dicing up pickles or relish to add into the mix if you want. We love pickles, so I add them anyway;) Texture is important when you're talking or tasting food. Pickled eggs are a bit more sturdy when it comes to filling eggs. They tend not to break or crack apart while piping in the yummy filling! Ingredients: *12 Pickled Egg Yolks *2 Tbsp. Chopped Fresh Dill *1/4 c. Sour Cream *2 Tbsp. Yellow Mustard *1/4 c. Diced Pickles *2 Tbsp. Dry Mustard *1/4 c. Diced Onions *Salt & Pepper to Taste *Dash of Smoked Paprika Mix it all up & stuff the piping bag...Pipe your filling into the pickled egg, then sprinkle with smoked paprika & enjoy!

Art is an awesome thing when you have the right pieces. Aesthetic art is just to look at, but applied art is functional & good looking!
