SPRING IS TIME for INSPIRING...

Spring Flowers

SPRING IS TIME FOR decoratING...

Fresh flowers add instant color & fragrance to a room.
Spring Mantel
Decorate the Mantel with Fresh Flowers & Colored Canning Jars!
Decorating with spring flowers from the garden is always a favorite of mine.  They can add a pop of color to a boring or neutral color scheme & be changed out easily to mix it up a bit.  Use found objects or store bought items to create a unique style all your own!
Easter Flowers
Spring Display
Add a little whimsy to your bouquet by covering up the stems with items that emphasize the season or theme.  The examples above are easy ideas to create spring designs for a tablescape centerpiece!
Spring Bouquet
Spring Flowers
Create a variety of heights in your spring flower design by using different vases.  Flowers with a thick stem always look beautiful in tall vases.  Instead, try cutting the stems short & float them in a bowl for a different look.  Or, try hanging them from above to carry the color & fragrance throughout the space to create a mood.

Let's take the front porch, for example.  This is the 1st impression you give people, & set the tone for the rest of the home.  The door is a blank canvas waiting to welcome you home.   Add a wreath or planters with fresh flowers or plants for style & color.

Flower Pot
Flower Pot Chandelier
Upcycle items found or replaced to create a whole new style like this blue chandelier planter.  This old chandelier was a gold, 80's style.  Terra cotta pots & saucers are glued to the arms with epoxy.  Blue spray paint creates a new, whimsical style with added petunias.

SPRING IS TIME FOR Organizing...

How to Work With a Professional Organizer

SPRING IS creatING Time for Art...

Wax-Resist Egg
Wax-Resist using Colored Crayons
Wax resist is a common form of egg decorating, & it is a bit of a magic trick, too!    Egg decorating with wax-resist is an ancient form of art in Ukraine, called Pysanky, which celebrates rebirth.  For more information, click on the link... Pysanky.
Materials: Water, Vinegar, Dye, Eggs, Egg Carton, Wide Mouth Cups (disposable is great for cleanup), Wax/Crayons, Paper Towels, & Dipping Spoons.  A plastic tablecloth is a great way to prevent staining!

Gather all of the items you need, & then set up the area before beginning to save time.  If you have young children, it's important to supervise the entire process.  The beautiful colored vinegar water is very tempting to young children.  Dye is permanent, so wearing appropriate clothes is very important!

After boiling the eggs, let them cool to room temperature.  Next, soak the eggs in a 50/50 water & vinegar solution for about 5 mins.  (This will allow the color to adhere better.) While soaking the eggs, prepare the dye/water/vinegar solutions.  There are a variety of dye tablets or food coloring on the market to choose.

Pysanky Egg Design
Rinse & pat the eggs dry.   Draw your design with the wax/crayon.  The design can be simple or intricate.  If you use a white crayon or clear wax, the design will be invisible until dyed.  Beeswax or colored crayons will allow you to see the design while drawing.  Dip the wax designed egg into the dye & allow the dye to soak into the porous eggshell.  The amount of time spent soaking in the dye solution will determine the depth of color.  Once satisfied with the color, remove from the dye & drip dry.   Use the egg carton to easily contain or store the eggs until you are ready for them.
To create a gradient or ombre effect, soak the egg for a few minutes; & then use the wax to cover the part you want lightest.  Next, soak the egg for a few more minutes & cover the next section you want a medium tone with wax.  Soak a few more minutes, then take the egg out of the dye.  Melt off the remaining wax to reveal the ombre egg.  This method will require a heat gun or hot hair dryer...please be careful around young children!

Happy Spring Everyone!!!
