September, Breeze on into fall...Getting ready for back to school...online, in-person, or a combination of both. Let's get ready together! FALL into design with metallic's...Choose colors that are similar to the colors of FALL...gold, copper, & brass are perfect to add a little sparkle to your fall decor. These colors will last the entire season so you won't have to change them out right after decorating & add light dappled around the room. I know it's not October yet, but I can't wait...so, I was inspired this Fall by pumpkins. Metallic colors don't always have to come from actual metals or be painted on though. A variety of materials can be utilized to achieve that sparkle. Fabric, ribbons, & glass create a different effect. Try mix & matching a few by layering in varied heights or materials. FALL INTO organizing...Organizing your student's can be fun if you get them involved. Plus, they will be more inclined to keep up with the system you've created together! Create an area that students can call their own...it doesn't have to be large or permanent. While study time is happening, students need to be able to concentrate. This means that know matter where the space is, they will be uninterrupted & productive. If your student's designated area is the dinning table & temporary, then they need to be able to have the space distraction free. Also, they need a place to store their materials/supplies while not in use. This storage doesn't necessarily have to be within the area. It just needs to be easily accessed & labeled. Organization only works if you use it! If it's hard to remember or use, it's going to be hard to practice. Training is an important part of the organization process; so that means attitude is important as well. FALL INTO art...Painting gourds is a fun project that you can do with the kids & everyone gets to design their own. Gourds come in a variety of shapes, sizes, colors, & textures. First, you need to wash your gourds. A simple solution of water, dishwashing liquid, & bleach will do the job! Fill the sink 1/2 way with water, about a tablespoon of dish soap, & a tablespoon of bleach. Let the gourds soak for a few minutes to soften the dirt & grime. I use a dish brush to scrub the gourds clean; you can use anything made to scrub without damaging the "skin" of the gourd. Next, pat them dry & lay them out to completely dry before adding anything. Once the gourds are dry, seal the outside. Depending on where you plan to place your gourds, whether it's inside or out, will determine what you choose to seal your gourd. Mod Podge, for example, comes in a variety of formulas for both inside & out. Now you're ready to paint your gourds. Acrylic paint is a great choice for most applications. Tube & brush applications are fun to apply, especially, for detail work. Spray paint is super easy for quick, less detailed work. Finally, apply a clear coat sealer to complete the project that will last a long time.

Art is an awesome thing when you have the right pieces. Aesthetic art is just to look at, but applied art is functional & good looking!
