...A CELEBRATION OF WINTER...

Although this winter has been warmer than any other, it's still winter... That means boots & umbrellas with plenty of cold rain... Even the cats are bundled up.

I love the rainy weather, I just don't like to get out in it!  Like the cats here, I'm most relaxed watching the weather curled up with a cozy blanket, hot drink, & not a care in the world!  Sometimes I art around, read/research, or blog.

...DECORATING FOR WINTER...

During the winter months, I change out my light-textured linen or cotton curtains for heavy weight velvet or blackout drapes.  It helps switch up the decor, but it also helps keep out the drafts (if you have drafts).  That doesn't mean they have to be dark in color.  There are plenty of options that have a light hue or pattern, but plenty of heft to keep out the cold!

...A REORGANIZATION OF WINTER...

Since the weather in winter is not conducive to outside organizing, for the most part, let's stay inside.  Closets are a great place to start because Spring & Summer are just around the corner. It's a great time to get a jump start on Spring Cleaning!
Going through your closets gives you a chance to look @ the clothes, shoes, & accessories that you haven't seen in ages.  I go about this process in a variety of ways depending on my client's level of organization, even though I go through the same steps with every client.

The easiest steps to organizing:
  • Sort through items to create manageable piles.
  • Evaluate & decide what to keep.
  • Plan & organize items into space.
  • Store items in appropriate space & containers.

...THE ART OF WINTER...

Winter is a great time to cozy up to the fire & doodle.  Doodle your loved one a valentines, or just relax by letting the pen go free.  Try a technique called Zentangling.  It's therapeutic & so darn easy once you get some basic lines down.  Grab an adult coloring book.  Gift yourself a journal or sketchbook, you deserve it!  Try taking a new bookmaking workshop so you can doodle in your own book!
