Back to School & Ready with a Wonderwall!
Getting back into the groove of a school routine can be a rough transition, but it doesn’t have to be with a few tips & tricks! Let’s start with the back to school items that cause stress...Clothes, Paperwork, Appointments, Reminders, Supplies, and Study Space.
Closets-Take some time to go through the closets together with your child or let them sort through it with your guidance. Even if you think they will never give up anything, let them sort into 2 or 3 piles & they may just surprise you! (Keep, Give Away, Trash) Let them show you what they decided, then you can re-evaluate items as needed. Creating a list of needed items to purchase helps save money!
Wonderwall-Some may also call it a command center; it’s a central space dedicated to an information station. A space that’s accessible to all will provide information instantly & everyone can be responsible for writing his/her info down. A calendar is emphasized as an instant visual to see everyone’s appointments, deadlines, projects, hobbies/activities, workshops, etc. A specific place to put notes or reminders instead of on the calendar creates an importance & keeps the calendar from looking overwhelming! Other items you may want to consider creating within the wonderwall area are mail, a weekly menu, & backpacks.. Nothing fancy needed!
Student Center-A designated space providing a work area for books, supplies, computer, lighting, etc. The space should be accessible enough to provide help easily, but far enough away from distraction! Every kid’s different & learning habits change, so try a variety of ideas or spaces if the 1st one doesn’t work!
